Can You Ship Alloy Wheels for Repair in Spain? A Practical Guide for Drivers Outside Valencia
If you live outside the Valencia area but want specialist wheel work, here is how sending alloys for repair actually works in Spain — packing, transport, costs and whether it is worth it.
WhatsApp for a Free QuoteWe are based in Alaquàs, just outside Valencia, and a fair number of the enquiries we get are from drivers further afield — Madrid, Alicante, the Costa Blanca, the Balearics, even other EU countries — who have found a specialist they want to use but are not local. The question is always the same: can I just send you my wheels? The short answer is yes, people do it all the time. The longer answer, which we will give you honestly here, is that it only makes sense in certain situations, and you need to understand how transport and cost actually work first.
Yes — you can send wheels for repair
Alloy wheels travel perfectly well by courier or pallet when they are packed properly. We regularly receive and return wheels for customers who are not in the Valencia area. What we will not do is pretend it is free or effortless, because it is neither. Here is the honest version.
How transport works (and who pays)
We can help you coordinate insured transport for your wheels through the carriers we work with. The logistics options, timings and costs are confirmed together with your repair quote, before any work begins, so there are no surprises. For private customers outside Valencia, transport is a real cost that is quoted clearly up front — we do not advertise free nationwide pickup, because that is not something we offer for individuals.
Many customers prefer to arrange their own courier, which is completely fine. Either way, the principle is the same: you know the full cost — repair plus transport — before you commit.
When shipping wheels is worth it
Sending wheels away for repair makes the most sense when:
- The work is specialist. Diamond cut, for example, needs a CNC lathe — equipment most local workshops do not have. If the nearest one is hours away, sending the wheels can be the practical option.
- You can take the car off the road briefly. While the wheels are away, the car cannot be driven, so this works best if you have a second car or can manage without it for a few days.
- The value justifies it. On premium wheels where a replacement runs into the hundreds of euros each, the repair plus transport still comes in well under the cost of new wheels.
When it is not worth it
If you only need a simple, common repair — a single kerbed wheel on a mainstream car, say — and there is a competent workshop near you, the transport cost may not justify sending it across the country. We would rather tell you that than take a job that does not make sense for you. And remember the car is immobile while the wheels are gone, so a same-day local fix is sometimes simply more convenient.
How to pack alloy wheels for transport
If you do send wheels, packing them well is what protects them. Our advice:
- Remove the tyres first if you can — it lowers the weight and cost, and lets us assess the full wheel. If not, tyres on is still fine.
- Wrap each wheel individually in bubble wrap, paying special attention to the outer lip and face.
- Use a sturdy box per wheel, or strap wheels to a small pallet for a set of four, with corner protection.
- Make sure the wheels cannot move inside the packaging — movement in transit is what causes damage.
- Always use an insured service so you are covered if anything goes wrong on the road.
What it costs to repair (before transport)
So you can do the maths, here are our standard starting prices: kerb repair from €85, wheel straightening from €80, painting from €100, diamond cut from €115, and a full restoration from €150 per wheel. Transport is quoted separately and clearly. Send us photos on WhatsApp and tell us where you are, and we will give you the full picture — repair and logistics — before you decide.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer free pickup and delivery of wheels?
We do not advertise free transport for private customers. We can help coordinate insured transport, and the cost and conditions are confirmed alongside your quote before any work starts. You can also arrange your own courier if you prefer.
Is it safe to send alloy wheels by courier?
Yes, provided they are packed properly and sent with an insured service. Wrap each wheel, prevent movement in the box or on the pallet, and protect the lip and face. We are happy to advise on packing.
Should I remove the tyres before sending the wheels?
If you easily can, yes — it reduces weight and transport cost and lets us assess the whole wheel. If not, sending them with tyres on is fine and we can handle removal here.
How long does the whole process take if I ship my wheels?
Allow transport time each way plus the repair itself. A cosmetic refinish is typically three to five working days in the workshop; we will give you a realistic total timeline with your quote.
