Bent Alloy Wheel Repair in Valencia: Is It Safe, and What It Costs
How buckled and bent alloy wheels are straightened in Valencia, how we check a repair is safe, when it is repairable and when you should replace instead.

At The Wheel Lab in Alaquàs (Valencia) we straighten wheels deformed by potholes, kerbs and impacts every week. But a bent wheel is not always safe to repair, so this guide explains how we assess it, what it costs, and where we draw the line.
How we assess a bent wheel
Straightening is not a job to rush or guess at — a wheel that looks fine but is still out of true, or that has a hidden crack, is a safety risk. Our assessment follows a set sequence:
- Measuring runout. We measure both radial runout (out-of-round) and lateral runout (side-to-side wobble) with a dial gauge against the rim to quantify exactly how far out the wheel is.
- Inspecting for cracks. We check the spokes, hub, rim and bead-seat area, and the valve area, for any cracks or signs of stress. A crack means no repair, full stop.
- Progressive straightening. If the structure allows a safe repair, we straighten the wheel progressively rather than forcing it in one go, controlling heat and pressure so the metal is not over-stressed.
- Sealing and balance check. After straightening we carry out an air-tightness check and recommend balancing, since the impact that bent the wheel often disturbs balance too.
What bent wheel repair costs
Straightening a buckled alloy starts at €80 per wheel for a light deformation. The final price depends on three things: how far out the wheel measures, where the deformation sits, and whether it also needs painting or welding afterwards. Mount and balance after the repair is €15 per wheel. We confirm the price after seeing photos or measuring the wheel in person — we never start work on a deformation repair before that assessment, because the measurement is what decides whether the repair is even possible.
When a bent wheel is repairable
Many bent wheels can be straightened safely. The good candidates are typically:
- Deformation on the outer or inner lip with no structural crack.
- Vibration after a knock or pothole, caused by a loss of roundness, where balancing alone will not fix it.
- A slow air leak caused by an uneven tyre bead seat.
In these cases the metal can usually be brought back within tolerance and the wheel returned to safe, reliable use.
When to replace instead
Some bent wheels should not be repaired. We recommend replacement, or advise extreme caution, when there is:
- A crack in a spoke, the hub or the bolt area.
- Severe deformation that does not return to tolerance after measurement.
- A wheel that has already been straightened several times and no longer has enough material to work with safely.
Severe impacts can also create micro-cracks that are invisible to the naked eye and work-harden the aluminium, making it more brittle. Straightening a wheel like that risks a failure on the road, which is why measurement and inspection come first — not the repair itself.
Is it safe to drive on a bent wheel?
It is not advisable. A bent wheel can cause vibration, uneven tyre wear, gradual air loss and added stress on your suspension components. What starts as a minor wobble can become an expensive suspension or tyre problem if you keep driving on it. The sensible move is to have it assessed as soon as you notice the symptoms — a vibration that gets worse with speed, a tyre that keeps losing pressure, or a visible flat spot on the rim.
The next step
Send us photos of the wheel from several angles, a close-up of the damage, and the wheel size. With that we can give you a first view on whether it is repairable, the likely price and the turnaround time before you come in. We straighten in-house at our Alaquàs workshop, we have our own CNC lathe (the only one in the Valencia area) for cases that also need a refinish, and every repair is backed by a 12-month guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to fix a bent alloy wheel in Valencia?
Straightening starts at €80 per wheel for a light deformation. The final price depends on the measured runout, the location of the damage, and whether painting or welding is also needed. Mount and balance is €15 per wheel.
Is a straightened alloy wheel safe?
Yes, when the damage is in a repairable area and the wheel returns to dimensional tolerance after measurement. We decline repairs where the structure is compromised, and all work carries a 12-month guarantee.
Can I drive on a bent wheel?
It is not recommended. A bent wheel can cause vibration, uneven tyre wear, slow air loss and suspension damage. Have it diagnosed as soon as possible.
