Diamond Cut Alloy Wheel Cost in Valencia: 2026 Price Guide
What a CNC diamond-cut alloy refurbishment costs in Valencia in 2026, why the price is higher than ordinary painting, and what you actually get for it.
WhatsApp for a Free QuoteKnowing what a diamond cut refurbishment should cost before you ask for a quote puts you in a stronger position: you can compare workshops, understand what each price includes, and avoid surprises on the final bill. This guide sets out the real 2026 rate at The Wheel Lab in Alaquàs (Valencia), explains why diamond cut costs more than ordinary painting, and shows what drives the price up or down.
What is diamond cut, and why does it cost what it does?
Diamond cut — sometimes called diamond turning or CNC machining — is a wheel finish in which the old paint and lacquer are stripped, and the face of the wheel is then machined on a precision CNC lathe. A diamond-tipped tool skims the aluminium to tolerances of a few hundredths of a millimetre, leaving the bright, mirror-fine concentric grooves that give the finish its name. A protective clear lacquer is applied on top, usually over a painted background colour in the pockets and spokes.
The price sits above a conventional paint job for three clear reasons: the equipment (an industrial CNC lathe is a serious capital investment), the specialist training the work demands, and the time the process takes — demount, machine, lacquer, cure, remount and balance. It is not a service an ordinary body or paint shop can offer.
Diamond cut price in 2026
At The Wheel Lab our diamond cut is €115 per wheel for a standard finish with a clear protective lacquer. We have our own CNC lathe on site in Alaquàs — we are the only workshop in the Valencia area that does — which lets us control the whole process and keep turnaround times competitive with no middlemen.
Why the price can vary
The €115 figure is our standard per-wheel rate. A few factors can move it on individual wheels:
- Wheel size. Larger diameters mean a longer machining cycle and more tool wear. A 16"–19" wheel sits comfortably at the standard rate; very large 21"–22" wheels may carry a small supplement depending on design.
- Design complexity. Wheels with many thin spokes, deep pockets or areas that are hard for the cutting tool to reach take longer and can add to the cost.
- Prior condition. If a wheel needs corrosion treatment, lip repair or welding before it can be machined, that preparation is quoted separately. Diamond cut removes a thin layer of metal, so a wheel that has already been cut several times may not have enough material left for another pass.
What the €115 includes
The standard diamond cut price covers stripping the old finish, machining the face on the CNC lathe, painting the background colour where the design calls for it, and applying the protective clear lacquer. Mount and balance after the work is a separate €15 per wheel. We are honest about that being an extra rather than burying it in the headline figure.
Diamond cut versus painting: which do you need?
If your wheels came from the factory with a painted finish, you do not need diamond cut — a standard paint at €100 per wheel will return them to original. Diamond cut is for wheels that were diamond-cut from new: that bright, machined two-tone face is part of their original design, and only a CNC lathe can recreate it. Painting over a diamond-cut wheel is cheaper, but it changes the look entirely and is usually a compromise rather than a proper restoration. If you are not sure which finish your wheels have, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you.
How long does a diamond cut finish last?
A diamond cut finish is more exposed than solid paint because the lacquer sits directly over bare machined metal — so if the lacquer is chipped by a kerb or stone, moisture can get under it and cause the white "corrosion bloom" you sometimes see on neglected wheels. Done properly, with a quality lacquer and clean preparation, the finish holds up well for years. Our diamond cut work is backed by a 12-month guarantee, and we use a high-grade lacquer specifically to slow that kind of edge corrosion.
Frequently asked questions
How much does diamond cut cost per wheel in Valencia?
Our standard diamond cut rate is €115 per wheel with a clear protective lacquer. Very large or complex wheels, or those needing repair first, may carry a supplement, which we confirm with the quote.
Why is diamond cut more expensive than painting?
It requires a precision CNC lathe, specialist skill and a longer process — strip, machine, lacquer, cure, remount and balance. Standard painting is €100 per wheel; diamond cut is €115.
Can a diamond cut wheel be re-cut more than once?
Sometimes. Each cut removes a thin layer of aluminium, so a wheel that has already been machined several times may not have enough material left for a safe re-cut. We measure before confirming.
Do you do diamond cut in-house?
Yes. We have our own CNC lathe at our Alaquàs workshop — the only one in the Valencia area — so the entire process stays under one roof. Camí dels Mollons 34, 46970 Alaquàs. WhatsApp +34 614 918 360.
