Kerbing an alloy is one of those small disasters every driver knows. A tight parking spot, an unfamiliar Spanish kerb that sits a little higher than you expected, a roundabout taken slightly wide — and there it is, that grinding sound and a fresh scrape down the rim. It is far and away the most common wheel damage we see, and for British drivers settling into the Valencia area it is often the first job they need. The good news: a kerbed wheel is almost always repairable, and we put it right properly.

At The Wheel Lab in Alaquàs we repair kerb damage every day. We do not just dab paint over the scrape — we re-profile the damaged metal so the shape of the rim is restored, then refinish it so the repair is invisible and the wheel matches the rest of the set. With our own CNC lathe, we can even restore kerbed diamond-cut wheels to their original machined finish.

Types of Kerb Damage We Repair

Light Scuffs

Surface scrapes on the outer lip or spoke edge that have only marked the paint or lacquer. Quick to put right and refinish.

Deep Gouges

Kerbing that has removed chunks of metal from the rim lip. The area is filled, re-shaped and refinished to restore the profile.

Kerbed Diamond-Cut Faces

Scrapes through the machined surface of a diamond-cut wheel. Repaired, then re-cut on our CNC lathe — the only correct fix.

Multiple Kerbed Wheels

A whole set that has picked up damage over time. Repaired and refinished together for a consistent, as-new appearance.

Painted & Coloured Wheels

Kerb damage on black, anthracite or coloured wheels, colour-matched and refinished so the repair blends in seamlessly.

Kerb Damage with a Bend

A hard kerb strike that has also bent the rim. We check for distortion and straighten it as part of the repair where needed.

Why Sort Kerb Damage Sooner Rather Than Later

A kerb scrape might look purely cosmetic, but it exposes the bare aluminium underneath the paint or lacquer. Left alone, that exposed metal starts to oxidise, and corrosion can creep under the surrounding finish — turning a simple, cheap repair into a much bigger refurbishment job. Dealing with a fresh kerb scrape promptly keeps the repair small, quick and inexpensive.

Worried it might be more than cosmetic? A heavy kerb strike can occasionally do more than scrape the rim — it can bend the wheel or, rarely, cause a hairline crack. If you have noticed any vibration, a steering pull, or slow air loss since the impact, mention it to us. We inspect every wheel for distortion and cracks before we quote, so nothing structural gets missed.

Why Drivers Bring Their Kerbed Wheels to Us

Anyone can paint over a scrape. We restore the rim properly — re-profiling the metal so the shape is right, then refinishing to match — which is why the repair lasts and stays invisible. With our own CNC lathe, we restore a kerbed diamond-cut wheel by re-cutting its face rather than just painting it silver.

Every kerb repair is backed by our 12-month guarantee, and we are happy to deal with you in English from your first WhatsApp message to collecting the finished wheels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Kerb damage repair starts from €90 + VAT per wheel, including re-profiling and refinishing. If the wheel is diamond-cut it is from €125 + VAT, as it needs re-cutting on our lathe. The exact price depends on the wheel size and how deep the damage is — we confirm it with a free quote first.
No. We re-profile the damaged metal to restore the rim's shape, then refinish the wheel to match, so a properly repaired kerb scrape is invisible. We finish it to blend with the rest of the wheel and the set.
Yes — and correctly. A kerbed diamond-cut wheel needs its machined face re-cut on a CNC lathe, and we have one in our Alaquàs workshop. We repair the damage and then re-cut the face to restore the genuine finish, rather than simply painting it silver.
It is wise to. A scrape exposes bare aluminium, which oxidises over time and can let corrosion spread under the surrounding finish. Dealing with it promptly keeps the repair small and cheap rather than letting it grow into a bigger job.
